Symphony Along the Shore

Rippling waves arrive from the middle of yesterday in perfect rhythm along the shore ... lapping, sliding, slipping into the sands of my morning. A tingling breeze underlies their movement in a timeless, sensuous caress. Its melody whistles through my soul and wakens the spirit. Gulls and terns and tiny pipers join in. They punctuate my overture with lyrical, chattering improvisations that rise with the subtle accession of a brightening back drop. Clouds of grandeur surround the orchestra in sweeping silence, taking their places in the foreshadowing of an extraordinary event. Announcing their presence in soft, wispy echoes, they darken to a pounding prelude and flush my senses with waves of anticipation. Then a pause, a torturous moment of suspension ... until all at once the sea and the sky erupt in the flames of an impossible birth, resounding in radiance and filling me with the chords of infinite promise. My heart trembles as I inhale the crescendo of another masterpiece by the great maestro. Another virtuoso performance. Another symphony along the shore. Another reason to breathe.
